About Us

A community-owned, crowd-sourced platform for grassroots disability initiatives from the Global South. Not an NGO project. Not funded by any international organisation. Built by and for disability rights practitioners and activists.

Why This Exists

The global discourse on disability is shaped by international organisations, academic researchers, and well-funded NGOs. The practitioners who do the actual work — DPO leaders organising protests, rehabilitation workers visiting families in rural areas, epilepsy advocates building clinics, self-advocates fighting for accessible infrastructure — are rarely heard in that discourse.

Their stories circulate in WhatsApp groups, get shared in local meetings, and are told over phone calls between colleagues. They never make it to journals, conferences, or policy discussions.

This repository was created to change that. Here, grassroots practitioners write their own stories, in their own words, in their own languages. There is no editorial gatekeeping. Nothing is too small, too local, or too personal to share.

Who Contributes

This platform is shaped by its contributors — DPO leaders, community-based rehabilitation workers, special educators, self-advocates, parents, and disability rights activists from across the Global South. They are the authors, and their experiences are the content.

Contributors have come from India, Malawi, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, and the community continues to grow.
